We use locally harvested Texas hardwoods — eliminating the need to transport our material long distances. Woods include mesquite, pecan, cedar, cypress and others as found.
Much of our wood comes from land clearing projects in the Texas Hill Country. As many ranch owners are trying to eliminate mesquite and cedar from their property to reclaim the soil and allow more grasses to grow. We then reclaim the wood and perpetuate its use in fine furniture, shelves, mantels and household furnishings.
We use trees that are already targeted to be removed. We get calls from people telling us that a tree is about to be cut down and we come in and take the tree to be used for our projects.
We work with the wood every step of the way, including milling the wood to be used for our special creations. Sometimes the inspiration for the project comes from the wood itself.
Finishing the wood . . .
We use many different types of finishes. Sometimes we use a light sealer, sanding and hand rubbing until just the right look is achieved. We are also working with "GREEN" environmentally friendly finishes. We are always looking for new products to achieve the desired look.
